is an individual whose knowledge spans many different subjects,
known to draw on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems.
This is one definition of polymathy. My guest on this episode of The Eddy Network Podcast is Barbara Kleeb, MD, a polymath coach, trainer, and podcaster, who returns to talk about polymathy for those just learning what this human behavior is like.
Several of my guests have been experts in polymathy. Angela Cotelessa Meyers, Florian Stummer, and Aksinya Samoylova talked about their perspectives on polymathy.
The intelligence involved in polymathy is the capacity to synthesize knowledge across various disciplines. Often, one discipline can be used metaphorically to understand another discipline. This multi-discipline approach is emerging as a significant approach to understanding how to manage a world in transition.
Based on my own experience, polymathy is also a pattern of human behavior defined by insatiable curiosity and the unwillingness to settle for any one perspective as the final answer. In other words, to a polymath, there are no settled questions, only questions to continue to pursue.
I am pleased to have Barbara Kleeb back on the podcast as she stokes my curiosity to learn more. She has also started her own podcast, Polymath Perception Podcast, which is an excellent way to learn more about polymathy.
