I was introduced to Mark McKeon through Dr. Eric Zabiegalski, another The Eddy Network guest. The three of us maintained a running conversation on LinkedIn over several weeks. As I was doing the post-production on the podcast video, Mark sent me the following message. I read a portion of it in the introduction. I offer it with deep gratitude.
Reflecting on the message I sent regarding inclusion. In doing so, I felt that actually there’s something important in that, and maybe worth adding into the show notes…
To thank you, as you demonstrated trust, faith, and openness in extending your invitation, after Eric connected us. It was unconditional, and to me, that’s love in essence.
We’d not met or ‘formally’ had an opportunity to introduce ourselves, and yet you offered space on your platform for us to meet.
You offered friendship without agenda and I feel that’s so important in our world. It helps promote human interaction and a sense of community beyond preconceived notions or expectations. Perhaps this is what has been eroded, traded/exchanged along the way, and/or is now missing in the lives of many.
What mattered to you, and what was felt, was our humanity and the beauty of connection, communication, and learning from one another.
With your skills and experience, you helped keep the conversation moving and aligned (where necessary), without having to set a structure or agenda.
For me at least, the reward for such a demonstration of kindness, love, faith, was resonance.
There was an affinity, based on core principles of what it is to be human and a ‘decent’ human (imo). Our understanding of human nature and the way we shared our interactions on a daily basis in our neighbourhoods/lives, was a wonderful example of how the basics (regardless of knowledge accumulated) remain, beyond the form.
Your embodiment of inclusion and community, the very essence of how you help people feel and understand in your life, is demonstrated in your podcasts.
It was enjoyable and uplifting, such is your way.
You have a full heart, Ed. I feel it and sense it in our exchanges, and your work. There’s a depth that beats with that, and coupled with your knowledge/wisdom and wealth of experience, it makes for a wonderful human (imo).
I am grateful to you for the opportunity, and to Eric for connecting us.
I appreciate these words of kindness. The reality is that without the initiative of Eric Zabiegalski to create an environment for the three of us to interact, Mark and I would have met and had a very different conversation that what you find here.
I share this because this should not be seen as an exceptional experience. Instead, it is one that requires each person contributing freely and willingly.
Our podcast conversation talks about a range of topics within this perspective. As a result, it is “a conversation within a conversation.” It is a taste of the conversation the three of us recorded for the podcast and will appear soon in two episodes.
Thank you to both Mark McKeon and Eric Zabiegalski for your friendship in conversation.
