Can you live by two rules?
I know what you are thinking.
Depends on the rules.
Brenda Yoho believes you can do so if you live by these two rules.
Are you feeling good?
Are you feeling safe?
She championed this approach as an education leader at every level of scholastic education. Her story answers many of the issues that families, schools, and communities face regarding children's development.
Brenda brings a hopeful message for our children, schools, and communities to The Eddy Network Podcast community.
After recording our episode, I contacted Brenda to ask if she had anything else she would like to communicate.
Here’s her message to us all.
As I began writing my book, my purpose was clear—to share a message that transcends titles, wealth, and accolades, reaching out to as many hearts as possible. Throughout my journey in life, I've witnessed the common narrative of success being tied to external markers like Money, Fame, Awards, Titles, and others.
However, I've learned that true significance lies in the lives we touch and the legacies we build in service to others. As a young child, I have always known it is better to give than to receive. Money is not a driving force for me, but it is a necessity for me to continue to share my message, work, support and guidance. In reality, it costs money to print books, to mail them out, to travel to places to provide support, and all of the other costs of having a business like I have. It will still be my main mission to give back more than I receive, as I provide resources, strategies, and so much more to those who request it.
The value of the work I do will save organizations lots of money as people will stay with them because they will feel valued, safe, like they belong and trust. We will work to place systems, routines, procedures, and build a climate/culture model everyone will want to have. Students and staff will first establish a foundation of trust and we will work on self-regulation. This will not be one more thing, but the thing to transition your school.
For me, it's the individual children I've had the privilege to guide, the families I've supported, and the bonds forged with colleagues united in our mission to uplift others that hold the greatest value. The work of nurturing resilience and trust within communities and schools is immeasurable in its impact.
I firmly believe in the power of collaboration among homes, schools, and communities to create robust support systems for our youth. Together, we can foster environments where every child feels empowered to navigate challenges, embrace innovations, and seize opportunities.
In the words of I Thessalonians 5:11, 'Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.' Let us continue to inspire, uplift, and build resilient cultures where every individual thrives and contributes to a brighter tomorrow.
