As I have already expressed in an earlier Special Episode, Time and Reality, the question of time grows in significance for me. The idea that time does not exist or that the present encompasses all time is problematic for me.
I know that many contemporary thinkers would like us to believe that the past whether historical or metaphysical, is simply a thought without a reality.
In this short video, I present a thought that has been hovering around my conscious awareness. It concerns the nature of generational memory. I welcome your thoughts in return.
After posting I wrote the following for the LinkedIn and Facebook posts of the podcast.
Love and trauma are both embodied experiences.
They get passed down from one generation to the next.
Generational memory is formed by such experience.
It is where history lives in us.
In this short Special Episode of The Eddy Network Podcast, I look at how we should look at time as the transition between the past, present, and future. But what does this actually mean?
Our remembering may be painful, or filled with longing. It also provides the awareness that enables us to change. Not just change the little things, but to sacrifice everything to start over how we live our lives. This is how we impact future generations.
I’ve been told that indigenous cultures talk about their actions having an impact seven generations into the future.
Reclaiming our generational memory may require us to go back at least that far to understand who we are today.
As I have frequently shared, when I was 12 years old, my mother’s mother said to me, “ You may do anything you want, but do not bring shame to the family name.” That sentence encapsulates my core generational memory going back at least ten generations that not only defines my life, but gave me the freedom to start over at age 62.
Dig deep into your own generational memory. Discover reasons to give thanks, and more importantly to say no more. Change your life. Future generations will thank you for it.

These words pierce home right now, not only because of My Year of Stoic Challenges (https://margaretannaalice.substack.com/p/my-year-of-stoic-challenges) but also because of an experience I am undergoing right at this moment that is on the precipice of resolution. I have been given a rare opportunity to correct a grave mistake I made and to turn the tables on someone who took advantage of my trust. All of this relates to something deeply intertwined with Michael so cuts deeper than a run-of-the-mill swindle. I hinted at this in a recent post (https://margaretannaalice.substack.com/p/a-tale-of-two-scams) and will share more in an upcoming article in hopes of helping others evade predators who would prey on their vulnerabilities.
