In the past two weeks, I’ve covered over 3200 miles. For many of you, that sounds excruciating. For me, it provides me with hours of quiet to think and reflect.
As I begin the trip home, I have almost another 3000 miles to cover. In this video, I reflect on one of the ideas that has become important to me. This idea is shared by both Iain McGilchrist and Michael Polanyi.
I read in the video from McGilchrist book, The Matter With Things, about syllapsis as a coincidence of opposites. Polanyi, in his McEnerney lectures, speaks about the difference between Particulars and the Comprehensive Whole. These are not the same ideas, but they touch on the idea that the world is made sense of through its opposite and the particulars that make up a comprehensive whole.
In addition, I want to thank everyone for your support and interest in the podcast and my Substack.
I’m extending the date to sign up to work with me on the follow-up book to Circle of Impact. Become a paid subscriber by May 15, and you'll get to participation in the conversations that will lead to the next book. You’ll also get time with me every month to talk about whatever you want.
Now, back on the road.
Wow, 3200 miles! Is that all driving? Excited to hear of Michael Polyani, I'll check him out. Recently, I've found John Vervaeke's YouTube series "Awakening from the Meaning Crisis" really insightful and helpful to me to understand more. Best wishes to you
