Greg Satell is widely known as the author of Cascades: How to Create a Movement that Drives Transformational Change. If you are interested in social or transformational change, it is important to become familiar with his work. The key phrase from the book is
small groups, loosely connected, but united by a common purpose.
This is the network principle that guides the changes that are emerging in the world. I have seen this in organizations where a sustainable culture is an emergent one. I describe it as “a persistent, residual culture of values that persists because it resides in the relationships of the people.” The genius of Greg Satell’s perspective is how he translates his experience in Ukraine over the past two decades to demonstrate how network cascades create the movements of real social change. A lot of us talk about this, Greg has been in the thick of it. His contribution is valuable for all of us who focus on change.
Our conversation covers a lot of territory. The most important is our discussion of the place of values in movements. The most interesting is his depiction of what has taken place in Ukraine. Thank you, Greg. It is an honor to have you on The Eddy Network Podcast.
