A community exists as a place of individual initiative. Every business, school, church, club, and shop are places where people take personal initiative to create a way to serve their community.
One of the unheralded institutions of community in North Carolina are the Small Business Centers that operate through the North Carolina Community College System. While I lived in North Wilkesboro, I participate in one of the programs that their SBC offered.
When I moved to Winston-Salem, one of my local friends introduced me to Martha Larson who is the director of the local SBC. I’m glad for you to hear our conversation about the importance of small business to a local community.
