When I was a child, Africa represented an unknown world. Hollywood, through its Tarzan movies, referred to the place as a dark continent. The result was fascination and a sense of it being a place totally different from my world.
In 2019, I was introduced to a group of Africans from the entire breadth of the continent. The Africa that I came to know immediately was the Africa of welcome and acceptance and later appreciation and honor.
With this video interview with Tony Wachira, I launch The Eddy Network Africa Podcast. Future posts will begin to appear as the revision of my Circle of Impact book is prepared for sale and distribution in Africa. It is three years in the making, and we are getting close to being ready to publish in both English and French. The working title is Circle of Impact Africa.
The purpose of The Eddy Network Africa Podcast is to let you hear from African people directly. They speak for themselves. There is no institutional mediation. Like all my interviews, I want you to hear them as they want to be heard.
This first interview is with a young man, Anthony P. Wachera of Nairobi, Kenya, who I know as Tony. His mother is good friends with a woman in Fargo, North Dakota, who I know through a friend who, like me, used to live in Wyoming and who I first met forty years ago in Atlanta. Note the string of connection. This is another purpose of The Eddy Network Podcast. It reveals the potential of our networks of relationships. Another podcast from Africa will post later this week, and then come spring, I’ll begin to release new ones for your enjoyment and benefit.
